Brandi McGuire, the Republican candidate in Illinois House District 72, expressed outrage at reports of two House members playing video games in the Capitol building in the last legislative session while important education legislation was being debated.

"Illinois has serious problems," she said in a press release. "That is the reason I am working hard to hear your concerns and to ask you for your vote in November so I can represent you with respect and responsibility. Many of the politicians in Springfield are not solving our problems or acting as public servants. Some of our legislators are behaving like bored children and playing video games."

McGuire alleged that other members and staff are pushing the legislators' voting buttons when those legislators are not on the job in the Capitol, pointing out that average citizens who do not show up for work or do their jobs will be fired.

"Some of our legislators are not serving the children whose schools are failing, they are not serving the families being priced out of their homes by the highest property taxes in the nation, and they are not serving the disadvantaged, disabled and our seniors by not passing a budget to fund Illinois nonprofits who serve these citizens," she said. "Let’s send our legislators a clear message do your jobs or we will send you home."
