COMMUNICATIONS: There were no communications
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Eggers, discussed his updated notes regarding the ordinance changes. When dealing with waterfront property in the township, ie. Knodt Rd, the front yard is the road side of the property. Therefore, swimming pools must be located on the waterfront side.
Discussion was held on the setbacks for banquet facilities. If a land split subsequent to adoption of this ordinance for purposes of developing wineries, distilleries, micro-breweries, all buildings shall be setback at least one hundred feet from any lot line. Planning commission can determine the standard on a case by case basis.
Discussion was also held on; if larger events are going to be allowed or not and with or without tents. This can be a condition set by the commission under the special use permit. Limiting the number of people and the size of the event based on the square footage of building and parking spaces allowed. Allow a tent once a month strictly to promote the business. Converting the sales area to a reception area. It was noted that this topic will be discussed at a later meeting when all the commission can be present.
Discussion continued on country banquet facilities. They will be allowed by special use. There were questions on how long the building has to be in existence. It was noted that as long as the building was there prior to the ordinance adoption. All other buildings can be reviewed on a case by case basis. Take out that all roads need to be paved, since all the roads in the township are paved of some sort.
It was noted that the planning commission might want to think about changing the ordinance to allow outside sales and repair, outside business activities, and outside storage in the business district. Planner was asked to write wording to incorporate these uses.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: Al Hugo thanked the board for working with him all these years and truly enjoyed his time here.
Bob Dion, potential owner of the, potential distillery on Center Ave., stated he would like this process to go faster. The business is going to be family owned and operated. Said he doesn’t foresee any big events planned for the property so there isn’t a need to spend a lot of time on the party of the ordinance that deals with large events and parties.
At this time the meeting was closed to the public.
Motion by Dewyse seconded by Brey that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
Respectfully submitted:
