ROLL CALL

Mayor Freeman called the meeting to order and directed City Clerk Arletta D. Holmes to call the roll. The following Aldermen were present: Alissa Sallows, Gary Almblade, Nancy Mulcahey, Ed DeJaynes, Gary Miller, Robert Cheffer, Jose Roberto Rico, and Mayor Freeman. 6:01p.m.

ADDITIONS/CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA

None

OFFICER HIRE - REPLACEMENT (Chief Reynolds, EMPD)

On June 21, 2017, Probationary Jacob Frost resigned from the police department creating a vacancy. The police department requests permission to hire a replacement off the current established East Moline Fire and Police Commission eligibility list. The new hire will attend the University of Illinois Police Training Institute starting on August 13, 2017. The anticipated hire date for the new officer is August 11, 2017. This position is budgeted for the 2017 fiscal year.

Funding Sources: General Fund

This is not a CIP

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the hire of a police officer.

After brief discussion comments and questions regarding various aspects of this item;

A motion was made by Alderman Sallows, seconded by Alderman Cheffer, to concur with the recommendation to approve the hire of a police officer. Instruct the City Attorney to prepare the appropriate document and forward to City Council for consideration. Upon roll call the following voted in favor: Cheffer, Rico, Sallows, Almblade, Mulcahey, DeJaynes, and Miller. Motion carried.
