Western Illinois University's (WIU) School of Agriculture anticipates a recent donation of farm equipment will benefit the school for years to come.
The donated combine with a three-row corn head and a four-row planter, as well as spare parts and other equipment, came from Wyffels Hybrids seed corn company based in Geneseo, a WIU release said.
Andy Baker, the WIU ag school’s director, said the donation would save the university money.

"The newer technology embedded in the combine and planter will be able to speed up our operations in the spring and the fall with hopes in reducing our costs, as well," Baker said in the release. "We certainly appreciate being on Wyffels' short list and hope we can continue our positive relationship with them well into the future."
Wyffels has a customer base of corn farmers stretching from the Ohio River Valley to Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and backs university research programs as part of its community support.
“We feel the success of all public university research is important to corn growers, and a rich part of Wyffels Hybrids' roots as a company," Customer Relations Manager Blake Wyffels said in the release.
