In the midst of National Small Business Week, William Fawell, Republican candidate for U.S. Congress from Illinois District 17 believes Main Street America will continue to suffer without significant change in government.

Fawell recently told Rock Island Today that he sees nearly all of our country's problems resulting from the United States' evolution to an "agency" form of government, which has no true separation of powers.

"What can I do for the small business owner against the billionaires and multi-national corporations who seem to be able to buy their laws with impunity?" Fawell asked. "Well, there is only one answer, and it is the only answer for not only the small business owner, but also nearly every American. We have to change our system of government, or more accurately, restore our system of government to what it was when it Made America Great."

Fawell said the agency form of government has led to the deterioration of the checks and balances practice.

"We live today in an agency form of government, whereas our nation was created as a representative government and there existed a separation of power," Fawell said.  "This is no longer the case today as all the powers of both the Congress and the state legislatures (Legislative Branch) have been 'usurped' and reassigned to any number of agencies operating under the Executive Branch."

"By no exaggeration, these agencies of the Executive Branch write and pass 90 percent of the laws we Americans must live under, with no review by either the Congress nor the state legislatures," he said.

Fawell said our representative form of government has fallen by the wayside and likened members of Congress to grocery clerks.

"In truth, most of the members of Congress have been rendered grocery clerks led by pimps who sell the powers of our government to the highest bidder," Fawell said  "It is this 'agency' form of government that has short-circuited our Constitution, which is our agreement not only between we the people and our government, but between we the people amongst ourselves."

"I can trace back nearly every single problem in America today, from healthcare to pensions, spending, deficits, education and even our foreign policy of endless war straight back to this agency form of government."

Fawell said he believes keeping the status quo in government will further erode our country.

"Today, our government rules over we the people, yet our Constitution is designed to empower we the people to rule over our government," Fawell said. "Until we the people reclaim our powers back to our Congress, there will be no peace. There will be no affordable healthcare. Main Street will continue to suffer at the hands of Wall Street and our freedom will continue to erode until America the Light of Liberty has been snuffed out, and our world will descend into darkness."

If elected, Fawell said he would do all he can to restore the power of the people over the government so that the "Light of Liberty" will shine for all Americans.
