Toulon Fire Protection District responded to 18 calls in 2017 - 38.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Toulon included 12 fires - six structure fires, two vehicle fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $50,600 in fire loss - or about $4,217 per fire.

The department also received six false calls.

The Toulon Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $132,264 in 2017.
