Tony Holland, a candidate for the Rock Island County board, believes building up small businesses is key to the area’s future.

The District 3 Republican made the remarks during the recent Ronald Reagan fundraising barbecue at the Pinnacle Country Club in Milan. He said he would like to encourage small businesses to grow, something he has seen come to fruition where he lives.

Holland said Silvis has seen many successful small businesses, and he hopes it is something that can be replicated in other parts of the county.

“The reason I am running is because I want this county to be a better place for my family to live,” Holland was quoted by media as saying.

He has been putting up lawn signs with those who are supporting him and in a recent Facebook post he said he was hoping to help the county move “in a more positive direction.”
