Quad Cities Dispatch/Argus recently issued the following announcement.
Delilah, daughter of Samantha Davidson and Ryan Edwards of Moline, has a congenital heart defect. A benefit is planned Sunday, Jan. 27, in Cordova to raise money for her family.
A Moline family will be the beneficiaries of a benefit scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Cordova Civic Center, 910 3rd Ave.
Samantha Davidson and Ryan Edwards, and their sons Jason and Ryker, welcomed Delilah to their family on Nov. 13, 2018. Delilah was born with heterotaxy syndrome, a complex congenital heart defect.
Doctors identified the syndrome early on and were prepared to perform surgery in Delilah's first weeks of life. The little girl already has had two surgeries, and more are on the horizon, likely when she is 6-9 months old and 3-4 years old.
Delilah’s grandparents and great-grandparents live in Cordova, and they are hosting the benefit to support their granddaughter.
“She’s doing good; hopefully in the next week or so she can come home,” said her grandmother, Valerie Callen-Davidson. Delilah has been at OSF in Peoria since her birth.
Delilah’s Benefit will include a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and dozens of raffle drawings. Prizes include a Valentine’s Day gift basket with a Red Lobster meal and hotel stay, an Ultimate Fitness package, Panera Bread for a year, White Sox tickets, and a Pandora bungle bracelet, valued at $175. The benefit menu will include tacos in a bag and hot dogs and chips.
Since her daughter’s birth, Samantha has stopped working because of the constant care that Delilah requires. All funds raised will go toward helping Delilah's family with her medical bills, travel expenses, and any other expenses.
Monetary donations can be made at any IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union (Delilah's Benefit) or mailed to 21320 129th Ave N., Cordova, IL 61242.
Contact Valerie at 309-721-0289 with any questions or to donate.
