Report: Kewanee spent $8,595 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Kewanee Community Unit School District 229 is up 6.1 percent from five years ago, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Henry County school district spent $8,102 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,595 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1818 to 1969.

Kewanee's spending in 2017-18 was 35.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
