WVIK FM 90.3: Duckworth Visits QC

WVIK FM 90.3 recently issued the following announcement.

Illinois US Senator Tammy Duckworth visited the Quad Cities Friday, touring the Arsenal, getting a briefing on the I-74 bridge project, and meeting with the mayors of Rock Island and Moline.

In between meetings, Duckworth told reporters she asked top commanders on Arsenal Island what more she can do to help them, as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"I'm especially interested in the vertically-integrated metal manufacturing processes happening at the Arsenal. It's the last facility in the entire Department of Defense that can do that. And the partnerships with manufacturing initiatives with Black Hawk College and places like that to move people into the manufacturing career field as well."

Armed Services also gives her a chance to help the Army Corps of Engineers, and her memberships on the Transportation and Public Works committees give her the opportunity to work on a wide range of issues important to Illinois.

As Duckworth says, she's on all the right committees to bring money back to her home state.

She's also confident members of Congress will come up with a border security bill that will be acceptable to the president, and avoid another government shutdown.
