WVIK FM 90.3 recently issued the following announcement.
All your favorite local artists will soon be on one streaming platform. This Friday, "QC Beats" will launch with a kickoff party at the River Music Experience in Davenport, featuring several of the musicians.
Director of Marketing for the RME, Alex Burkamper, says the QC Beats website will start with 15 artists and their albums, and add about 10 more each year.
"We've got Rebecca Casad & Alan Morrison, Soultru, Lojo Russo, TC Boyd, the Avey Grouws Band, and TAJ. And like I said we've got blues, singer/songwriter, and hip hop."
Employees at the Davenport Public Library came up with the idea, and Burkamper says they got help from the RME and St. Ambrose University to design and create QC Beats.
"Cause we think it's important to show our community how great the local music really is and to have a centralized location for people that might not be aware of it to come, explore, and find out that there's some really cool stuff going on around town. You don't have to necessarily look outside the Quad Cities to hear some great musicians."
Friday's QC Beats website launch party will be held at the River Music Experience Redstone Room. The free show starts at 7:30 pm, and is for all ages.
