WVIK FM 90.3 recently issued the following announcement.
The Mississippi Valley Fair is celebrating its 100th year. Opening today, the fair will run for six days through Sunday.
General Manager Shawn Loter says this will be one of the best years yet, in part because of the grandstand lineup, which includes Dan + Shay, Brooks & Dunn, Nickelback and Brad Paisley.
"It's the hundredth year, the lineup is probably one of the best lineups we've had in a long time, and the weather is going to be gorgeous. I think with the weather we've had, people are eager to get out and have a good time."
But, Loter says music isn't the only thing that will make this year's fair better.
"We have the Budweiser Clydesdales that are joining us this year, we have our veteran's parade, a lot of livestock shows and petting zoos. We have the new 'Sandy Land' where parents can sit down and let their kids run wild and play games and stuff. So, there are a lot of nice things and new things this year to check out."
