Q3 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Mercer County?

There were six offenders released on parole during the third quarter of 2019 that live in Mercer County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Rock Island Today.

The data shows that all of the released offenders in Mercer County were men. The median age of the parolees was 36. The youngest parolee was a 28-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2019, and the oldest was a 49-year-old man sentenced for a crime against justice in 2016.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Douglas W. Shull. He was convicted of a crime against justice in 2016 when he was 46 years old. He is now 49.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the third quarter of 2019 in each Mercer County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
