THE REGULAR MEETING of the Board of Education of Annawan Unit District No 226 was held at 6:00PM. President Shaw called the meeting to order. On roll call those present were Brian Childs, Jeff Gerber, Jerad Heitzler (Zoom), Kim Park, Dwaine Shaw Jr, Liz Wied. and Ted VanHyfte. Others present were; Superintendent Matt Nordstrom, Dawn Heitzler, Elementary Principal, Lana Wolf (Zoom), Erin VanUnnik, Scott Reakes, AEA representative (Zoom), and Matt Huber, AD.
CONSENT AGENDA – Moved by Childs and seconded by Park to approve Consent Agenda.Voting YES were Childs, Heitzler, Park, Shaw, Gerber, Wied. VanHyfte. 7-0 Motion carried.

AUDIENCE TO VISITORS AND OTHER COMMUNICATIONS
SUPERINTENDENT COMMUNICATIONS—Matt Nordstrom
• COVID Update – Thank you to staff for being brave, determined, and strong through 60 days of in-person learning
• Jr. High has been placed on a purposeful pause and is full remote through Nov. 30th; going very well.
• COVID #s – G.S. – good; H.S. - improving
ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL- Dawn Heitzler
• COVID #s are updated daily and the spreadsheet is working great.
• Evaluations are being performed.
• Jr. High remote learning is going well for both teachers and students.
• Health Department is behind on contact tracing, but still continuing to work closely with them.
HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL/LEAD TEACHER-Matt Nordstrom/Lana Wolf
• Ornaments are being delivered in place of the normal cookie delivery.
• Angel Tree is being completed at the school.
• Free internet is still in the works.
• The safety, health, and education of the students is being looked at on a daily basis.
• Teacher evaluations are in progress.
• Virtual Veteran’s Day was well received by the community and a big thank you to all involved.
THLETIC DIRECTOR –MATT HUBER
• Fall season has wrapped up with a good showing for All-Academic students.
• Waiting on IHSA to make a decision on winter sports.
SPECIAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE
• Next meeting – December, no agenda yet.
BUILDING COMMITTEE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE FINANCE COMMITTEE
BETTER TOGETHER COMMITTEE
• The committee has hand-written letters to every employee of the Annawan School District thanking them personally for what they have been able to accomplish.
A&W COOP COMMITTEE
• Fall meeting held – discussion items included coaching changes, financials, facility updates, scheduling.
• Overall, the meeting was very positive and the number of student-athletes and successes is up.

Approve the 2nd Reading Board Policies – Moved by Heitzler and seconded by Wied to approve the 2nd reading of Board policies, with the change to Policy 7:10. Call vote, motion carried.
Approve 2020 Annawan CUSD 226 School Report Cards – Moved by Park and seconded by Childs to approve the 2020 Annawan CUS 226 School Report Cards. Call vote, motion carried.
ACES Request – Recommendation from Superintendent Nordstrom to have the Building Committee work with the town on the ACES Request.
Approve the Lighting Bid – Moved by Gerber and seconded by VanHyfte to approve the bid from LMI Inc. for the football field lighting with a quote of $57,924. Voting YES were Childs, Wied, Gerber, VanHyfte, Shaw, Heitzler, and Park. 7-0 Motion carried.
Approve the tentative 2020 Levy – Moved by VanHyfte and seconded by Childs to approve the tentative 2020 Levy in the amount of $2,832,115 at 4.7%. Voting YES were VanHyfte, Childs, Wied, Shaw, Gerber, Park, and Heitzler. 7-0 Motion carried.
Motion made by Childs and seconded by Park to move into closed session at 7:04PM. Call vote, motion carried.
Motion made by Park and seconded by Childs to move out of closed session at 7:55PM. Call vote, motion carried.
Approve 2021 Health Insurance Plan - Moved by Gerber and seconded by Park to approve the 2021 Health Insurance Plan based on the following renewal recommendation: Annawan CUSD 226 pays $578.42/month for each person covered in the Collective Bargaining Agreement while providing two plan options MIBPP2030 and MIBCS2030 (Blue Choice Select PPO and Blue Print PPO). Voting YES were Gerber, Park, Shaw, VanHyfte, Wied, Childs. Abstaining was Heitzler. 6-0-1 Motion carried.
Adjournment- 8:05 PM- Moved by Gerber and seconded by Childs to adjourn. Call vote, motion carried.
