City of Moline Special Events Committee met May 22.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

1. Approval of April 3, 2024 Meeting Minutes

2. Consideration of a Special Event application from Tudi’s Tribe for the Gabe’s Gift Memorial event scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024. This event requires temporary partial closure for northbound traffic on 53rd Street from Jane Adams Middle School to 34th Avenue, along with the eastbound lane of 34th Avenue to the Pyesa N/ Whirling Thunder entrance at Black Hawk College between the hours of 5:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (including set-up and clean-up time). Supporting information and special consideration requests are detailed in the Special Event Application.

3. Consideration of a Special Event Application for the Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House to utilize 11th Avenue from 8th Street to the end of the Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House parking lot entrance for the Porch Party event. The event is to be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. (this includes set-up and clean-up time). Supporting information and special consideration requests are detailed in the Special Event Application.

4. Consideration of a Special Event Application for Renew Moline to utilize the Historic Block Plaza for a Chillin’ in the Courtyard event. The event is to be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (this includes set-up and clean-up time). Supporting information and special consideration requests are detailed in the Special Event application.

5. Consideration of a Special Event Application for Renew Moline to utilize the Historic Block Plaza for a Chillin’ in the Courtyard event. The event is to be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (this includes set-up and clean-up time). Supporting information and special consideration requests are detailed in the Special Event application.

6. Consideration of a Special Event application from the Quad Cities Running Club for the TBK Quad Cities Marathon event scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. through Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. (including set-up and clean-up time). This event requires temporary full closure of River Drive from 15th Street to 34th Street; along with partial closure of the westbound lane of River Drive from Old River Drive to 34th Street.

The TBK Quad Cities Marathon event was approved on February 20, 2024 with Council Bill Number 1027-2024. Due to a Vibrant Arena event on the same night as the Quad Cities Marathon set up, the Quad Cities Running Club is moving the 1-mile post-race party and expo to Stoney

Creek and Bass Street Landing which requires the additional closure of 17th Street north of River Drive. The westbound lanes of River Drive will be closed between 19th Street and 15th Street for the 1 mile race between 9:45 am – approximately 10:30 am.
