FOIA Request to City of East Moline Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As a team at Rock Island Today, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. To continue our mission, we have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of East Moline in Illinois.
The request, sent on October 30, 2024, seeks records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, specifically related to new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till today's date. The fields requested include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address and contractor name.
In addition to this information about new permits, we have also requested details about all active residential and commercial building permits and their current status. The same fields as mentioned above were asked for these active permits.
As part of our journalistic responsibility to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential. We believe that being a media organization makes us eligible for a fee waiver as per FOIA regulations.
