South Rock Island Township (SRIT) Republicans recently endorsed Gary Snyder for the position of township trustee, lauding his 40 years of experience, lifelong local residency and ‘no-nonsense management’ via social media.
"Gary will bring over 40 years of sound leadership experience to South Rock Island Township,” the organization stated on its Facebook page March 9.
Local GOP spokespersons cited Snyder’s previous leadership positions with the Modern Woodmen of America, the Rock Island Optimist Club, and the Rock Island Jaycees.
Snyder, who was past commissioner of the Rock Island planning commission, currently serves as Chairman of the Rock Island zoning board of Appeals.
“Gary is a guy who likes to get things done and is looking forward to sharing his years of no-nonsense management as a Trustee on the South Rock Island Township Board," SRIT GOP stated on its Facebook feed.
Other Republicans joining Snyder in the campaign for trusteeship positions in South Rock Island Township are Kim Shuda, Chris Elsberg and TJ Krone; with Rodney Simmer as the candidate for supervisor and Nichole Finnie, for assessor.
According to an article published by Rock Island Today in late February, several local GOP candidates were planning to campaign using a unified team approach with the motto of “Accountability, Commitment and Integrity.”
The SRIT Republican Party encouraged voters to turn out early in a Facebook message posted yesterday [March 16], the first official day for early voting.
