Walter Z. Nenycz will be honored at a memorial service at the Colona American Legion Hall in Colona on Sept. 15, starting at noon.
Nenycz died in his home the day before Independence Day. He was 74.
Rock Island County Republican Central Committee Chairman Drue Mielke recently sent an email providing details of Nenycz’s “Celebration of Life" gathering.

Nenycz spent 25 years working for Carpenters Union Local 166 in Milan, retiring in 2002. He was also an active member in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Vets on the River, the Mississippi Blood Center and Junior Achievement.
Nenycz was also known to enjoy dancing, truck driving, hunting, traveling and taking pictures. He was also known as a skilled mechanic and handyman.
He is survived by a son, Tye, granddaughter Mattie Nenycz and siblings Stephanie, Larry, Olga and Terresa. His family is inviting friends and acquaintances to share memories of him and condolences with the family at trimblefuneralhomes.com.
