Republicans interested in running for public office in the Rockland/Geneseo area are invited to a training session on Saturday, July 27.

Drue Mielke, chairman of the Rock Island County Republican Central Committee, says the Illinois GOP and the Republican County Chairmen's Association are joining forces to recruit new and experienced precinct committeemen, county chairs and potential legislative candidates. The morning session will train precinct committee persons and county chairs.

The afternoon session is designed for potential candidates interested in running for the county board, county-wide offices and the legislature. Structured training will be provided for people thinking about a first-time run for office. People who are considering runs in the township and municipal elections in 2021 are also encouraged to attend.

Interested GOP members can attend one or both training sessions. There will be numerous speakers and great networking opportunities, Mielke said. The event is free of charge. The exact location in the Rock Island/Geneseo area will be chosen for the convenience of those who register by July 20.

To register, contact Jan Weber by email at jweberlp@msn.com, text or phone at 309-714-1617 before July 20.
