Viola Public Library District Board met Sept. 4.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Members of the public are invited to speak to the Board of Trustees. Please identify yourself when called upon. Comments are to be limited to three (3) minutes or less. In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, actions may not be taken on items not already on the agenda, but action may be deferred to a later Board meeting at the discretion of the Board.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Mindi Schultz presented the treasurer’s report. Barb Harrison moved to accept the report as presented with Linda Engels seconding. Motion passed.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
The secretary’s report was reviewed. Mindi Schultz made a motion to accept the secretary’s report. Annette Essary seconded. Motion passed.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Lill reported that the library numbers are good including interlibrary loan requests from other libraries wanting our materials. She reported that the court date for the lawsuit against Roger’s Heating and A/C is set for September 19 at 11:30am. She asked if any trustees were available to attend with her. Lill also reported that the final report has been sent to the Carver Foundation.
OLD BUSINESS:
BUILDING – UPDATE
The building is ready for the flooring to be installed, toilets and sinks put in. The water has been turned on. She will contact Linda Miller to paint and Renewal by Anderson for an updated quote on 3 windows and 1 door. Two other windows will be replaced at a later date. Mindi Schultz approved the updated quote from Renewal by Anderson with Barb Harrison seconding. Motion passed.
MEMORIAL PLAQUE
Lill spoke with the daughter. She was a very pleasant lady with no objections if we could not put up a plaque with her dad’s name on it. She provided the library with more information on her dad and a photo of him. Lill asked her if it was OK that the library use whatever money is donated to purchase children’s books with bookplates or shelving with brass plaques showing the items were donated in memory of her dad. She was OK with that. Lill mentioned to the board an idea of trying to get photos of the original members of the board to hang with a photo of the current board. The board liked the idea.
NEW BUSINESS:
Tax Levy FY20 – Final Action
The tax levy ordinance was presented. After reviewing, Barb Harrison moved to approve the tax levy with Annette Essary seconding. Motion passed.
FY19 ANNUAL REPORT – FINAL ACTION
Lill presented the FY19 annual report for review. Mindi Schultz moved to approve the annual report. Mark Trego seconded. Motion passed.
Barb Harrison made a motion to close the meeting with Mark Trego seconding. Meeting adjourned at 6:25 pm. Next regular meeting is October 2, 2019 at 6pm.
