City of Colona Public Safety Committee met Dec. 16.

Meeting called to order 9:10 am
Roll Call
Present: Alderman Shady-Dahl, Alderman King, Chief Swemline, also present Laura LaMantia.
Absent: Tristan Tapscott
Reports/Communication
Stats for November were distributed and are as follows:
508 Calls for service.
$450.00 City ordinance fines
$3500.00 Admin Tow fines
$25.00 Animal tags or pick up
$10.00 Misc.
Old Business
Chief advised the City was still getting bids for the new sprinkler or alarm system mandate for the animal shelter.
Chief advised the police pension liability has gone down due to the good economy and investment returns and the pension fund is in a better investment standpoint.
New Business
Chief advised the City is looking at Municipal Collections of America to use as a collection agency for unpaid fines.
Chief advised he is still working on the hiring process for a full time officer and is currently conducting background checks and has a spot reserved for PTI.
Chief advised the Shop with a Cop program would take place on December 18 at Silvis Walmart with 14 students chosen to participate.
Chief advised he completed his PERC 21 Training which was a 3 week course through the Training and Standards Board
Alderman Shady-Dahl made a motion to adjourn, Alderman King seconded it. Motion passed and meeting was adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
