City of Rock Island Arts Advisory Committee met June 9.

Call to Order and Roll Call
Temporary Chair Dawn Wohlford-Metallo called the virtual meeting to order at 4:00 PM.
Approval of the Agenda
Brandy VandeWalle moved to approve the agenda for June 9, 2021. Carolyn Krueger seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 7 to 0.
Approval of the Previous Meeting Minutes
Carolyn Krueger moved to approve the minutes for May 12, 2021, 2020. Pat Stolley seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 7 to 0.

Discuss the the information gathered from the public meeting at Radicle Effects and Schwiebert Park and how this can provide direction for decision making and planning for the Arts Commission
The committee discussed the information gathered from these public meetings. The three most noteworthy take-aways were:
1. The Gallery Hop is missed
2. Shared space for Art is needed
3. Art should be placed in the windows of vacant storefronts in downtown
Inform the Commission that the 2020 sculptures have been rented again for this year
Kathy Douglass information the Commission that due to City budget constraints the 2020 sculptures have been rented again for this year and that the City is considering purchasing the sculpture currently at Lincoln Park. It is called “Reaching to the Moon” by Tim Frye.
Other Business
Pat Stolley told the commission members that Rozz Tox will be having a block party in October. Brandy VandeWalle told the commission members that the Artist Market will be open June 27th from 12:00 – 5:00pm. Downtown Director, Jack Culleen is working on putting window clings in vacant storefronts downtown
