In a May 13 Facebook post, Sen. Win Stoller (R-Peoria) shared a little about his time visiting Hammond-Henry Hospital, commemorating National Hospital Week.
"I truly enjoyed being able to celebrate National Hospital Week with the Health Care Team at Hammond-Henry Hospital. To all health care workers, thank you for everything that you do!" Stoller posted.
The American Hospital Association said that the week is an opportunity to highlight hospitals, health systems and healthcare workers and how they support and connect with their communities.
The Geneseo Republic reported that the theme was "Growing Together, Growing in Advocacy," according to Danielle Hoffman, chief nursing officer at Hammond-Henry.
Stoller has been outspoken lately about the recently passed state budget. In April, he said that the budget doesn't do enough to put the state on good financial footing.
"Already billions of dollars in debt, already having higher taxes on our employers, already having employees in that situation of having reduced benefits when we enter a recession and have the related spike in unemployment," Stoller said. "Other states that took action are not going to be in that position. They're going to be in a position to take care that their employees who need unemployment benefits in their time of need, but we are shortchanging ours. Kicking the can down the road doesn't solve our problems. Delaying action doesn't solve our problems. In fact, it's these delays that got us in the mess that we are in in the first place and I do not think we should be heading down that path."
