COMMUNICATIONS

NEW BUSINESS

1. Full-Time Appointment of Probationary Police Officers (Darren Gault, Chief of Police) Explanation: Probationary Police Officers Branden Bowden and Brady Lemke will complete their probationary period effective November 4, 2023.

Staff Recommendation: Staff request full-time appointment of Police Officers Branden Bowden and Brady Lemke effective November 4, 2023, pending no concerns develop between today's date and November 4, 2023.

2. Probationary Period Extension (Darren Gault, Chief of Police)

Explanation: Probationary Police Officer Omar Morales-Alvarado suffered an off-duty injury during his probationary period. Officer Morales has not been released back to full duty.

Staff Recommendation: Staff request a probationary period extension for Officer Omar Morales pursuant to Chapter III, Section 12 of the Rules and Regulations. The probationary end date will be finalized after his return to full duty.

3. Certification of Police Officer and Lateral Police Officer Eligibility Registers (Darren Gault, Police Chief) Explanation: The police Officer Eligibility Register and Lateral Police Officer Eligibility Registers have been compiled with the results of the most recent recruitment testing.

Staff Recommendation: Staff request certification of the Police Officer and Lateral Police Officer Eligibility Registers as presented.

4. Voluntary Removal from the Firefighter/Paramedic Eligibility Register (Steve Regenwether, Fire Chief) Explanation: Joseph Martinez (number five candidate) on the Firefighter/Paramedic Eligibility Register, requested removal from employment consideration in his email to Elizabeth McKenzie, Human Resources Specialist, on October 3, 2023.

Staff Recommendation: Staff request acceptance of the removal of Joseph Martinez from the Firefighter/Paramedic Eligibility Register at his request.

5. Full-Time Appointment of Probationary Firefighter/Paramedic (Steve Regenwether, Fire Chief) Explanation: Probationary Firefighter/Paramedic Quinn Sunderbruch successfully completed his probationary period effective October 27, 2023.

Staff Recommendation: Staff re quest full-time appointment of Firefighter/Paramedic Quinn Sunderbruch effective October 27, 2023.

6. Acceptance of the 2024 Board of Fire and Police Commission Meeting Schedule (Teri Ray, Recording Secretary) Explanation: Prior to the end of each year, the City of Moline’s Council Board/Committee Meetings Schedule must go before the City Council for approval. As such, the deadline to submit the Board of Fire and Police Commission meeting schedule for 2024 is approaching. The proposed schedule maintains the current regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.

Staff Recommendation: Staff recommend acceptance of the 2024 schedule as presented.

7. Elect Chairperson (Teri Ray, Recording Secretary)

Explanation: Pursuant to Chapter I, Section 3 of the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners; The Board shall annually elect a chair who shall hold office until the end of the fiscal year of the municipality and until a successor is duly elected and qualified.

Staff Recommendation: Staff request the Board make the election pursuant to Chapter I, Section 3 of the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
