It has been over a week since Hurricane Helene struck, becoming the fourth deadliest hurricane to hit the U.S. mainland since 1950 and the most lethal since Katrina in 2005. The affected areas include Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama. Residents are in urgent need of shelter, water, food, and health care.

Hundreds remain missing across the Southeast as entire communities were swept away by fast-moving waters. Tens of thousands of homes have suffered damage or destruction.

"Those impacted in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama need shelter, water, food and health care," reads a statement regarding the situation.

Efforts to locate missing individuals continue as authorities work tirelessly to restore order and provide relief to those affected by this natural disaster.
