State Senator Neil Anderson | Illinois General Assembly
State Senator Neil Anderson has issued a statement in response to Governor J.B. Pritzker's recent State of the State and Budget Address. In his remarks, Senator Anderson criticized the governor's focus during the address.
"Governor Pritzker’s budget address wasn’t about leadership—it was about setting the stage for his national ambitions," said Anderson. He expressed disappointment that instead of tackling issues such as Illinois' high taxes, ethics reform, and crime rates, Governor Pritzker chose to appeal to what he described as "the far left."
Anderson further criticized the budget proposal, stating, "His budget is built on fiction, not fiscal responsibility." He highlighted concerns over tax burdens faced by families in Illinois and accused the governor of prioritizing government expansion over financial relief for residents.
The senator also addressed comments made by Governor Pritzker during his speech that compared Republicans to Nazis. Anderson found these remarks offensive and indicative of a broader trend he perceives from political opponents. "Many were offended by the Governor’s remarks comparing republicans to Nazis," he noted, adding that such rhetoric is expected when policy defense fails.
Senator Anderson concluded with an analogy: "It doesn’t surprise me when a coyote attacks a lamb—that’s its nature. And it doesn’t surprise me when the left resorts to name-calling and emotional rhetoric—it’s in their nature."
