The City of Moline will start its annual leaf vacuuming service and sticker-free yard waste bag collection on Monday, October 13, 2025. These services are scheduled to continue through Friday, December 12, 2025, depending on weather conditions.

For the leaf vacuuming service, Moline is divided into three areas. Crews will work from north to south, starting at 1st Avenue and moving toward 52nd Avenue each week day. Each day’s work begins where crews left off previously.

Residents are asked to rake leaves next to the street but not directly into it. The city asks that piles do not contain rocks, sticks or other debris and requests that vehicles not be parked in front of leaf piles.

A leaf collection map is available online at bit.ly/molineleaf. Residents can also call the Leaf Hotline at 309-524-2407 for a recorded message with current crew locations.

“Leaf vacuuming is intended to aid in disposal during the peak season and should not be considered the primary means of leaf removal,” according to city officials.

During this period, residents can place yard waste bags out for collection on their regular garbage day. Bags must be biodegradable and hold no more than 30 gallons. Bags should be placed at least three feet away from garbage carts. No stickers are required between October 13 and December 12.

Residents are encouraged to use this sticker-free period for bagging leaves instead of waiting only for the vacuuming service.

The city also promotes environmentally-friendly options such as mulching or composting leaves for garden use. Burning leaves, tree branches or grass clippings remains prohibited in Moline.
