City of Silvis Public Works met August 1. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:

The meeting was called to order at 5:30am and it was noted a quorum was present for two agenda items.

The first item for discussion was bid results for the 2017 seal coat program. The engineer estimate was $32,849 and two bids were received and opened on July 25" at 10:00 am. Porter Brothers Asphalt and Sealing bid was $35,794.20 and Tri-City Blacktop was $32,481.30. Both parties met the required submittals and the low bid from Tri-City Blacktop was checked for accuracy. The apparent low bid was confirmed as Tri-City Blacktop. Committee was in agreement to accept Tri-City Blacktop in the amount of $32,481.30 as the approved contractor for the 2017 Seal Coat program. The item would be placed on the 8-1-17 Regular agenda.

The next agenda item was discussion on purchase of a leaf vacuum for the Park Department. Jim explained that the current unit is no longer working as the engine is not repairable. A replacement unit is a Trac-Vac model 880 electric start now available at Anchor. The cost is $3,539 and it is not a budgeted item. He said he could use major R&M; budget is $9,000 available amount is $8,244 or it could be split with TIF or come from CIP Fund (S119,482 available). Committee was in agreement with the purchase and the item would be placed on the 8-1-17 COW agenda for consideration. Funding would come from

TIF and Park budget.

There were no other agenda items and the meeting was adjourned at 5:37am.
