Moline City Council met January 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Council Meeting: The City Council meeting came to order at 6:28 p.m. The Council met in regular session in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Pledge: The Council and audience recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Invocation: Alderman Schoonmaker gave an Invocation.

Roll Call: Roll call was taken with Mayor Acri, Aldermen Rodriguez, Parker, Wendt, Potter, Turner, Schoonmaker, Waldron and Berg present. Absent: None. Alderman Parker appeared electronically.

Items on Consent:

Approval of Minutes & Appointments-

Committee-of-the-Whole and Council meeting minutes of December 19, 2017.

Resolutions-

1. Council Bill/Resolution 1001-2018

A Resolution approving of a payment to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) related to the City’s share of I-74 Bridge Contract 64E26.

2. Council Bill/Resolution 1002-2018

A Resolution authorizing approval of a Change Order with Civil Constructors for Project #1274, 16th Street Viaduct Pier Repairs and 52nd Avenue Bridge Deck Replacement, in the amount of $14,310.16.

Omnibus Vote: Alderman Wendt, seconded by Alderman Rodriguez, moved to approve and adopt, by omnibus vote, these items. Motion carried on roll call with the following vote: ayes: Aldermen Rodriguez, Parker, Wendt, Potter, Turner, Schoonmaker, Waldron and Berg; nays: none.

Items Not on Consent:

First Reading Ordinances-

3. Council Bill/Special Ordinance 4001-2018

A Special Ordinance designating the Prospect Park Pavilion, located at 1580 34th Avenue, Moline, Illinois, as a locally designated landmark.

Council, Staff and Citizen Comments:

Alderman Rodriguez welcomed the new Fire Chief, Jeff Snyder. He is looking forward to seeing what Chief Snyder can do at the Fire Department to improve services to residents.

Alderman Turner shared that she looked up the “Breakfast with Ray Forsythe” event on the WQAD website. She encouraged everyone to look this item up on the WQAD website. She shared that Planning & Development Director Forsythe is a great advocate for the City of Moline.

Alderman Schoonmaker shared that he had no snow and ice complaints as a result of the recent weather events and that Public Works did a great job with the snow and ice removal. He asked J.D. Schulte, Public Works Director, to pass this information along to his staff.

Jeff Anderson mentioned that Renew will be holding a community workshop for the I-74 Realignment Zone Study. Renew is working with the City on this event. It will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Council should be receiving a press release and flyer concerning this event in the near future. Mayor Acri indicated that Amy Saunders will be coordinating a Special Council Meeting Agenda for this event, so that all Council may attend.

Executive Session:

Alderman Wendt, seconded by Alderman Potter, moved for Executive Session, for the purpose of discussion of Collective Negotiating Matters-5 ILCS 120/2(C)(2). Motion carried on roll call with the following vote: Ayes: Aldermen Rodriguez, Parker, Wendt, Potter, Turner, Schoonmaker, Waldron and Berg; nays: none.

City Council convened in Executive Session at 6:33 p.m.

Alderman Potter moved to adjourn Executive Session, seconded by Alderman Wendt. Motion passed unanimously.

Council reconvened in open session at 6:51 p.m.

On motion of Alderman Wendt, seconded by Alderman Potter, Council adjourned at 6:51 p.m.

The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting is on January 16, 2018.
