Village Of Carbon Cliff Village Board of Trustees met Feb. 6.

5. Village President’s Agenda:

a. Motion to adopt Ordinance No. 2018-03 “An Ordinance Of The Village Of Carbon Cliff, Rock Island County, Illinois, Increasing The Home Rule Municipal Retailers’ and Service Occupation Tax”. (Raises tax from 0.75% to 1.00%. Must be in Springfield by April 1, 2018, tax effective July 1, 2018).

b. Motion to acknowledge and ratify Village Clerk, Karen L. Hopkins’ approval of a MidAmerican Energy’s Customer Authorization request to install a 3” secondary riser and make secondary connection at Pump House “A” for the purpose of installing a new generator and transfer switch.

6. Correspondence:

a. Village President received a resignation letter dated Monday, January 22, 2017 from Code Enforcement Officer, Tim Gillette. Village President has accepted the resignation.

b. Letter dated January 29, 2018 from the Illinois Department of Transportation. The Chicago to Quad Cities Passenger Rail project has been reinstated. Project team members will be collecting roadway pavement core samples at various locations throughout the IAIS corridor, including those in Carbon Cliff’s jurisdiction. Pavement cores will be collected near railroad tracks but outside of the railroad right-of-way. Restoration of each pavement core location will be made with a quick-set concrete patch. Field work tentatively scheduled to begin the week of February 5, 2018, weather permitting.

a. EPA has notified the Village that our combined radium (-226 & -228) were high for the compliance period of 10/1/2017 – 12/31/2017. Level found was 6 pCi/L and the allowed limit is 5 pCi/L. A notice has been written and will be mailed out to the public on February 9, 2018 in accordance with EPA guidelines.

b. New generator for Pump House A has been delivered and Rock River Electric is finishing the installation. c. Update on the Grand Illinois Trail Bike Path.

11. New Business:

a. The Village received a copy of a complaint filed with the Circuit Court of the 14th Judicial Circuit Rock Island County, Illinois. Court Case # 2018tx1 regarding a 2016 Tax Objection Complaint filed by First Financial Group, L.C.
