City of Colona Finance/Admin Committee met May 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order: 10:04 a.m.

Roll Call: Aldermen Holman and Swemline were present. Alderman Hillman was absent

Staff Present:

J. Legare, Treasurer

B. Winegar, Clerk

R. Lack, Mayor

Public Comments: None

Old Business:

➢Alderman Holman asked if anyone had any comments or questions on the sexual harassment policy. There were none so the committee is sending it to the council for approval at their next meeting.

New Business:

1.Treasurer Legare informed the committee that she has been keeping track of lost revenue for the City during the COVID-19 shelter in place order. With the businesses closed, she estimates that the City’s loss is between $150-200k. She advised to be very cognizant of our purchases and how they may affect the budget. She specifically mentioned the purchase of the vehicles for public works and the police department. The Mayor informed the committee that both the Chief and Chris knew that those purchases would not be made this fiscal year.

2.The committee tabled the remodel of the customer service area in case TIF III funds are needed for emergency during COVID-19.

3.Jen Legare brought up some type of recognition/reward for our frontline workers such as the Police and public works employees. Some options were discussed and this will be looked at again at the end of the COVID-19 shelter in place order.

4.Pay raises for the non-union employees were discussed and they have been taken care of and raises will be retroactive to May 1, 2020.
