Police and Fire Committee member, and Firefighters and First Responders Subcommittee member state Rep. Dan Swanson (R-74th) joined Matherville Fire Department’s “soup to go” free food event over the weekend.
The Matherville Fire Department served various soups, sandwiches, cookies, and had a line of raffle baskets.
Swanson supported the function with his wife Tammy Swanson after another event, which the latter announced through a Facebook post.
“After attending the Court of Honor in Princeton, we went to Matherville, IL, for soup to go from the Matherville Fire Department!” she posted.
“Dan and I attended a Court of Honor this afternoon for Peter Campbell,” she wrote on Facebook. “Dan presented Peter with a certificate of recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives and an Illinois flag flown over the Capitol. For his Eagle project, Peter constructed a sandbox/water table for the preschool that he attended when he was younger at Evangelical Church. It is always a pleasure to attend these ceremonies.”
A retired lieutenant colonel, Illinois Army National Guard, Swanson is also a part of several House committees including the Appropriations-Public Safety (Republican spokesperson); Veterans' Affairs (Republican spokesperson); Mental Health and Addiction; Elementary, Secondary Education: School Curriculum Policies, and Agriculture and Conservation.
