Action Items:

⮚ Approval of Minutes: Kirk Marske asked for a motion to approve the May 18, 2023, Main Street Commission meeting minutes. Motion to approve was made by Amy Trimble, seconded by Andrew Sivertsen. The motion carried unanimously.

⮚ Website Domain Management: Kirk would like to renew the molinecentre.org and molinecenter.org domains for two years – both are up for renewal on June 24, 2023. Kirk would also like to purchase molinecenter.com. Kirk also recommended releasing the molinemainstreet.org and shoplocalmoline.com domains, which are up for renewal in August. Alderman Macias asked if those domains are currently in use in any way. Kirk is unaware of any usage. Andrew Sivertsen stated additional domains could be used to re direct users to molinecentre.org. Amy Trimble stated it is important to keep it simple with one or two domains. Motion to approve the retention of two domains for two years was made by Ajay Singh, seconded by Amy Trimble. The motion carried unanimously. Motion to approve the release of the two domains was made by Andrew Sivertsen, seconded by Lora Adams. The motion passed unanimously.

Informational Items

⮚ Downtown Parking Survey: Kirk asked all members to fill out the Parking Survey.

⮚ Moline Centre Program Manager Report: The downtown merchants have expressed some parking issues but may not want full downtown parking enforcement. Andrew Sivertsen asked if this involves leased spaces. Kirk stated it may involve leased spaces and they may not need to be leased any longer, removing the reserved signs. Amy Trimble mentioned focusing on targeted areas with signs or communication on where to park to the tenants and employees. Kirk agreed and this is why he is doing a fact-finding survey.

Kirk asked all members to look at the roster and add or correct any updates so he can add it to the City’s website. The term of three members will be ending in September 2023, Ajay Singh, Andrew Sivertsen and Eric VanSpeybroeck. Andrew and Eric could serve another term and Andrew plans to do so.

Mo.Live is scheduled for August 25th and 26th. The website is live at molinelive.com. Kirk is working on adding an art walk involving merchants providing space for artists to display their work. But other businesses may do their own version, for example, sidewalk chalk art. Twenty businesses are interested. This could be a launch event for Mo.Live beginning on Thursday.

Kirk is working on scheduling a merchant clean-up day on the morning of August 19, 2023, in preparation for the Mo. Live! event. He is not sure if this would focus more on trash pick up, weeds, or other clean up but it will be decided closer to the event date.

The Kiosks are mostly filled, two have three sides filled and one has all four sides filled. The kiosk may need some repair since the doors do not function easily, the lights do not work, and they are not sealed from the weather.

Kirk has joined the Main Street Program as an individual, offering discounts to classes, workshops, and the conference in November. Consideration for re-applying for the Main Street program will be given when the application is released later this summer.

Renew Moline has a new intern who is doing GIS mapping of planters, flags, and other landmarks in Moline Centre.

There is a new crepe restaurant, “Crepe Corner,” opening sometime this month owned by the same owner as Le Mekong.

The Channel Cat docks behind the Commons have been renovated.

Johnathan Marler is celebrating his second anniversary at Keep Pushing Skate shop.
