The 182nd Airlift Wing of the Illinois National Guard in Peoria organized an open house event for local mayors and legislators last Friday. Colonel (COL) Ballard, the Wing Commander, took the lead in guiding the occasion. The briefing given by COL Ballard covered various aspects, including the 182nd's staffing, mission, and operational capabilities.
Those attending the open house were treated to an experience on board a C-130 Hercules transport plane, adding a practical element to the event. Additionally, they engaged with military personnel, received updates on advancements in communications equipment, and had the chance to handle some of the newer weapon systems.
Attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity, with thanks going to COL Ballard and the service members of the 182nd Airlift Wing.
