State Representatives Dan Swanson (R-Alpha), Norine Hammond (R-Macomb), and Travis Weaver (R-Peoria) are organizing a series of farmland assessment seminars in early September. The events aim to provide local residents with information about the farmland assessment process and guidance on how to challenge assessments if needed.

“These meetings will help local residents better understand the farmland assessment process and how to go about challenging the assessment of your land if you feel something is incorrect,” Swanson said.

Brenda Matherly, Director of Local Government for the Illinois Farm Bureau, will lead the presentations. The seminars are being held in partnership with local county farm bureaus. Four sessions are scheduled over two days, and all are free and open to the public. Each session will cover the same material.

The schedule is as follows:

- Tuesday, September 2 at 1 p.m., Moline Public Library, 3210 41st Street, Moline

- Tuesday, September 2 at 3 p.m., Knox County Farm Bureau, 180 S. Soangetaha Road, Galesburg

- Wednesday, September 3 at 8:30 a.m., Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau Office, 1000 N. Main Street #1, Monmouth

- Wednesday, September 3 at 11 a.m., Spoon River College Community Outreach Center, 2500 E. Jackson, Macomb

No RSVP is required for attendance. Questions can be directed to Swanson’s office at (309) 334-7474.

Residents of the 71st District can access more information about legislative news and upcoming events on Representative Swanson’s website.

Swanson was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois' 71st House District in 2023, succeeding Donald L. Moffitt.
